How to Update a Blog when you’re on Vacation

June 16th, 2009 | Categories: Web Site Tips

This is one of the most common questions between amateur bloggers. How to update your own blog when you’re on the vacation or simply if you don’t have much time for that on the specific moment. I’m going to show you how to update a blog doing some extra work and leaving it to work for itself.

How to update a Blog when you are on the Vacation or Holiday?

Professional bloggers usually likes laptops, but if you don’t have one or don’t want to carry it with you on the trip – updating a blog can be complicated for you. I will write about how to prepare your blog for a vacation and what you should do to fully automate an entire process.

Get Ready

One of the most important things here is to get ready for that. You should think about your blog too. Doing this right you may relax yourself and forget about your blog when you’re on the vacation or a holiday and try to spend or think about people you care.

The first thing you should do is to think about what you should post in the next few days (depends on your vacation). Believe me, this is the best thing you should do. So, let’s say you’re going on vacation for the seven days or one week. In that case, you should write down 6 or 7 quality posts to post them while you’re on the vacation.

This may take some time, but once you’re on the vacation you don’t want to think about your blog. And this is the most productive and effective technique you can do.

Post Scheduling Technique

Anyway, there’re many ways to automate this entire process. But for sure, the most effective and the most productive would be the post schedule – available in the most blogging systems, including Wordpress or Blogger.

Get a Writer

If you don’t have a time to create good and quality posts. Good thing is to get one or more writers to write for you on your own blog. The best way is to choose people you know personally – the main key is to choose someone you can thrust and actually want to give a option to post on your blog for you.

Please note that there’re more techniques to actually post offline on your blog. The above examples are the most popular and can be very helpful for you. Actually, I use them anytime I go somewhere for a longer period.

Always Check

The very important thing is to check your blog always you’re in the position for that. At least try to find a internet cafe to see all changes on your blog. This is important because you can react fast if something goes wrong with it.

Final Thoughts

When I’m on the vacation I want to forget all about my work and regular home hobbies – and that include the blogging. I want to take care about people I like as much as I can during that time.

Always remember, there’s so much other things on this world that you can explore and use.

I agree! And Wordpress ability to schedule posts is one of the most useful things I've seen in all this blogging stuff… It can really save you lots of time and let you enjoy your vacation.
