Put Any File in your Web Site with Embedit

Embedit is a service that allows you to embed your documents and files in your webpage or blog instead of having to link to them. The files display directly in the browser, no software required. It’s really cool web site which allows you to improve your web site or blog overall functionality. Best of all is that this service is completely free for anyone!

To use this service you don’t need to signup. It’s completely compatible with your own Google, AOL, Yahoo! or OpenID account. You can easily sign-up using accounts on any mentioned services and start using this service completely for free.

Which Files are Supported

Embedit allows you to upload many popular file types to embed them on your web site or blog. Including following file types:

• Documents – doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, pdf, wpd, odt, ods and odp
• Images – png, jpg, gif, tiff, bmp, eps and ai
• Text – txt, rtf, csv and html

Note that new Office 2007 formats are included – I like that. Maximum size per file which you can upload is 20 Mb. And that’s enough for most users believe me.

Other Informations

This service uses Adobe Flash Player 9, and any browser which supports flash can use this service. Today, it’s almost 98% of all browsers available on the market. If you know how to use API or if you are a programmer, you can use Embedit API to automate the embedding process.

One more very good thing is that you can download any file you (or others) upload through this service with easily accessed button on the site.

There are few “bad things” for me. For example, you can’t delete any file you upload – at least not with this web site. Also, there’s no option to protect your uploaded files, so anyone can see your uploaded document easily. Take care what you upload through this service.
