How to Publish and Promote a Blog

This is the seventh post in the “How to Create a Powerful Blog” series of posts. Recently, I’ve shown you why to use a WordPress, how to choose a domain name and hosting for your blog, how to optimize your blog and articles and how to successfully convert your free blog theme to the professional one. Today, I’m going to show you how and when you should publish or promote your blog on the internet, the best techniques and ways for that.

This is for sure the most important factor for the every new blogger – how to promote and when to publish a blog. In this article, I’d try to help you with that. Note that this article should take care about the long-term topic. I should notice that I’ll concentrate more on the free-promotion techniques and services you can use, but I’ll mention couple of the successful paid-advertising methods you can use if you want to spend some money on that.

When to Publish a Blog?

Below, I’ll try to help you about when you’re going to publish your blog to the internet. I’ll note when you should or shouldn’t publish your blog. Also, I’ll tell you when you’re, or not ready for that.

You should publish your blog if it has the following elements:

• Design – It should have a well-working design that shouldn’t have unnecessary elements you don’t have.
• Some posts – You should publish your blog when you’ve created at least 10 or more quality posts for it.
• Try a blog – You should always try your blog in all browsers to see if it’s compatible with them. It’s better to do that at the beginning because later it can distract your valuable first-time visitors.

Many bloggers and webmasters make the same mistakes by publishing blogs and sites that are not ready yet. In the any way, most of them doesn’t have enough contents or doesn’t have a nice-looking design (not compatible and ugly). You should promote your site only when it’s fully ready for the presentation.

The first impression of your visitors is the very important factor here. Try to create a top-quality contents at the beginning to get their attraction. Don’t rush into anything, take care about any aspect of your site before it’s fully ready for that. You may spend a little more time to do all that, but it’s very important and valuable for sure.

The Best Promotion Techniques to Use

There’re so many promotion techniques you can use to promote your blog over the internet. I’ll separate them in the two main categories – Free Promotion and Paid Promotion. See when and how to use these promotion techniques and what can you get from each.

Free Promotion Techniques

There’re many free-promotion techniques you can use to promote your site at the beginning. I’ll list some of the most popular ways to promote your blog or a website for free.

• Guest Posting – This is for sure the best and most productive way to get loads of traffic to your site. Search for the related blogs in your niche to find the most popular ones. Once you find them, it’s time to create a top-quality article and send it to the site admin. If your content is quality, probably most bloggers would approve and publish it on their own blogs. Don’t forget to give them a linkback to your site too.
• Blogs and Forums – The good way to get some quality traffic is to post at the blog comments and forums related to your site niche. Most of the blogs and forums allows you to attach your domain name to your name and/or create your own signature with a link to your site. The more time you spend posting on other places, the more potential visitors you can get from them.

There’re so many ways to get a free traffic to your site. Note that doesn’t include the search engine traffic – only referral traffic from the other sites. Most sites on the internet actually get more visitors from the search engines than from any other place on the internet. Like you probably know, I get more than 80% of all traffic to this blog from Google.

Like with the free promotion techniques, there’re so many paid-promotion techniques you can use to advertise your blog or a website for the money. You should carefully pickup where and how to advertise your site, how much you’re willing to spend on it and much much more factors. Below, I’ll list the most popular advertising ways today.

• Google AdWords – For sure the most popular way to advertise on the internet. Google has a very huge amount of the potential customers and community. That’s why it’s the best for the advertising. But, you should create a successful AdWords campaign if you want to see a successful results.
• Facebook – Today, Facebook is one of the most popular places on the internet. Allowing you to advertise your site on their pages. For me, it’s much easier way to advertise than with AdWords, and allowing you to highly target your potential audience.

For me, these are the best ways for you to start advertise your site for money. With appropriate care and setup you can get the most effective results in just couple of days. So, it’s much faster than any free-promotion technique. Takes much less time, but it takes your money too.
